The History of
Ranchos de Caballos

It takes a lot to turn a wide open pasture into an opportunity such as Ranchos de Caballos—a lot of foresight, a lot of effort, and a lot of commitment. The history of Ranchos de Caballos is a unique story of entrepreneurial effort and creative vision, while preserving the heritage of the ranching community surrounding it that dates back over a century.

Originally envisioned as an equestrian community, the property has been entitled to allow for up to 54 home sites. In fact, when it was approved by the back in 2009, it was the deemed the last new subdivision to be allowed in Lincoln County. The utlitiy lines and roads are built to service the first Phase of the planned project (where the first two homes have been built), as well as the outdoor arena.

It's a fascinating and engaging story, with personalities and people whose freewheeling styles and willingness to take risks created one of the Southwest's premier recreational ranching properties.

our mission

Heritage, Family, Faith

The Tinsley Family

The Tinsley family are the owners of the Flying W Diamond Ranch, near Ruidoso, New Mexico, just north of Capitan. They carved this special property out of the Ranch's regular pasture rotation with a vision of creating a recreational ranch for another family to enjoy for generations to come - they called it Ranchos de Caballos.

The Flying W Diamond Ranch, which neighbors Ranchos de Caballos from the North and West, is a third-generation family owned and operated cattle operation dating back more than 65 years. The cattle raised on the ranch are registered Black Angus from some of the finest genetics in the United States. The Angus cattle are specifically bred, born and conditioned in New Mexico and are sold from Arizona to Georgia. The goal and vision for Flying W Diamond Ranch is to breed genetics that will contribute to the success of all clients and customers of the Flying W Diamond Ranch.
